Maha Kumbh: First of the Six Shahi Snans


Allahabad, January 14: The Maha Kumbh, biggest show on the earth has begun here with first of the six "Shahi Snans" on an auspicious occasion of "Makar Sankranti", where millions of devotees, ascetic and thousands of Naga Sadhus with their ash-covered bodies took a holy dip on the confluence of sacred rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. One hundred million people expected on Maha Kumbh. However, about a million foreign tourists are expected in the Mela, whereas three crore people are expected on “Mauni Amawasya” on February 10.

The festivals in India are unique and amazing. One of them is the Kumbh Mela, which is said to be the oldest religious festival in the world. It is one of the most sacred festivals for the Hindus.
